Chicken Cock Chanticleer Cognac Barrel Finish Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Chicken Cock Whiskey's newest limited release Chanticleer is fine Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in premium French Cognac Barrels. Limited to only 32 barrels, Chanticleer celebrates the long time French American friendship dating back to the 1700s and to Paris, Kentucky where Chicken Cock was founded in 1856.

With vibrant notes of ripened peaches and delicate sweet cream the flavor bursts of vanilla and cherry with compliments of softened plums and candied dates. This is the second edition in a collectible series of limited holiday releases.

Chicken Cock “Chanticleer,” finished in the best French Cognac barrels they could find, is the nod to the pioneering spirit of the forefathers. Just as they thanked the French for their help in creating this amazing country, we call home; we thank them for creating the brand that we now have the honor of shepherding in the 21st century. They would be thrilled to see “The Famous Old Brand” thriving 166 years later.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Mahogany-copper with extremely slow and thin legs.

Nose: Plum, peach, leather, black cherry, vanilla, and oak.

Palate: Stone fruit, mixed nuts, raisins, spicy cinnamon. Rich & well integrated.

Finish: Blackcurrant, dry oak, vanilla extract, and leather. Long finish.

The aftertaste evolves beautifully the longer you let the whiskey evaporate off your palate. There is a warming of the chest without burning, and a lovely profile sitting on the back of the throat.

Like other recent Chicken Cock bottlings, Chanticleer is sealed in a collectible commemorative tin, this one celebrating the longstanding partnership between France and the U.S.; the tins, by the way, are designed to evoke Prohibition-era booze smuggling containers. Now you know.
