Bright cherry red with ruby highlights. Numanthia 2015 is a fresh, yet expressive wine. It first reveals a fruity nose with cranberries, blackcurrant and violet notes, then hints of cinnamon, cloves and black pepper followed by delicate and balsamic aromas with mint, eucalyptus and sandalwood.

Firm on the palate with a harmonious, wide and balanced evolution. The wine's freshness offers length and vivacity, while it coats the palate with supple tannins. It first develops ripe red fruit, cocoa, cinnamon, mineral and spicy notes such as graphite, nutmeg or cloves, giving complexity and elegance.

Numanthia is the most emblematic wine from Bodega Numanthia, is considered as one of the great wines from D.O. Toro and gets its name from Numancia, a city famous of the resistance of an epic attack from the Roman army. The citizens defended the city until the end, choosing death rather than surrender. The Numanthia estate is situated at Valdefinjas, a small village in the Zamora province. The Numanthia wine was founded in 1998 by the Eguren family, native of Rioja, to create the best wine of the Toro appellation. It is made from 50 to 100-year-old vines, most of them ungrafted, grown in sandy-clay soils. Belonging to the DO Toro, the vineyards are located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level.

Harvested by hand and meticulously selected, the destemmed grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with their skins. After that, this red wine from Toro was transferred into new French oak barrels, where it was aged for 18 months. During the 18 months ageing process in new Bordeaux French oak barrel that support the wine's good structure and balance, this Crianza red wine was racked every 4 months.

Bottled in June 2017, it was aged for a further 24 months before its commercial release. The fermentation takes place for 9 days at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28 ºC, applying two daily stirrings. After the fermentation there is a maceration with its skins for 25 days, applying soft stirring. This is a wine with intense and complex character but very balanced with a soft texture, silky and elegant. A search for excellence which takes shape in every bottle.

Decant Numanthia 2015 a minimum of 2 hours before you drink it.
