This wine is a real original. If an alarm bell is ringing in your head, then that is probably a good intuition, because authentic, regional wines not made for foreign tastes often times are not for everyone. However, if you are curious about why 50% of vinho verde production is actually red wine produced for local consumption, I would suggest giving this a try to see what it's all about. Bone dry, fizzy, cherry fruited , slighty funky/rustic, and low alcohol. Again, not for everyone but maybe just what you're looking for? An authentic local pairing might include a flavorful pork stew served alongside this wine, served cool to highlight the fruit. Casal García is one of Vinho Verde giant Quinta de Aveleda's labels. They produce a lot of wine, but they are extremely organized, quality oriented, and produce the only red that I have yet to taste from the Vinho Verde region.
