Speyside whiskies are known to be fruity and floral, but as the bad boy of Speyside, Craigellachie defies with its oil fired, rich character. Craigellachie 33 is matured in ex-bourbon casks which give notes such as vanilla, toffee and coconut. Over 33 years in oak allows for the flavors to fold together harmoniously.
Beautifully balanced, smooth and rich with a swirl of smoke in the background. Papaya sprinkled with black pepper, grilled pineapple with a lingering floral element in the background: chamomile and rose water. A contradiction in a glass – elegant and refined yet framed by a muscular, almost bonfire-esque element. Flavors fold together on the palate: cedarwood, exotic fruits, a cereal complexity and rum and raisin ice cream. Silky smooth with a lingering sweet almond note and a creamy finish.
