Emmolo Napa Valley Merlot

Rich and unexpected. Grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in Napa Valley Oak Knoll district, including two family vineyards in lands which has been in my family for generations. We seek out areas with light gravelly soil and ideal growing conditions that enable longer “hang time” for the grapes to achieve full ripeness.

The area’s cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavors, a fresh earthiness and smooth, leathery tannins.

A vibrant red, this vintage is earthy and alluring, featuring scents of ripe plums, wild berry pie, and freshly we soil. Notes of new leather, sweet cigar, sage, and a whiff of mint add intriguing layers to the nose. The palate quickly builds and expands, offering flavors of mulberry, espresso, toasted wood, and sweet spice. Tannins are extremely smooth, giving this wine a supple, soft texture. The lingering finish fills the mouth with the richness of lush fruit and Mexican chocolate, with rustic accents of cinnamon and clove.

This rich, expansive Merlot has bold and luscious flavors of ripe cherries, earth, smoke, and figs. Full-bodied and soft, the finish is laced with delicately smooth tannins that give the wine a silky texture.
