Loch Lomond Distillery was commissioned by the Littlemill Distilling Company in 1964 with first distillation in 1966. In 1984, the distillery closed - or fell silent, to use the traditional term. Happily though, Alexander Bulloch and the Glen Catrine company acquired the business and resumed malt production in 1987. Grain whisky production began in 1993 and two new malt stills were added in 1999.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Lovely tropical fruits like one can expect when drinking Loch Lomond. (Dried) Apricot and cantaloupe melon. After this there is a sea of sweet flavors like sultana’s, vanilla, caramel fudge, butterscotch and honey. In the background I get Dutch candy flavors with licorice and laurel.

Taste: A great full, sweet and buttery body with again loads of tropical and sweet candy-like flavors. It’s gentle, balanced and pleasant. It really focuses on the sweet side of the plate, giving . Simply lovely.

Finish: A great medium/long finish with flavors of nougat and peanuts. A great touch of smoke gets in at this part. It really compliments the experience.
