It’s been over a decade since WhistlePig pioneered the premium rye category. And for years, we’ve been finishing our award-winning whiskies in innovative ways never before seen by the industry. In other words: we’re used to blazing our own path. Now we’re doing it literally.
Earlier this year we loaded up a semi-trailer with barrels from our farmhouse distillery in Shoreham, Vermont. Then we hit the open road with the world’s first-ever rolling rickhouse in tow. Our journey traced the all-American road trip, following Historic Route 66 from the streets of Chicago to the sun-soaked shores of Los Angeles.
Before we left, half of the future RoadStock whiskey was transferred into Bordeaux blend casks from Jordan Winery that would make the full 6000-mile round trip journey providing ample time for the whiskey to steal the nuanced complexity from these incredible casks. The other half of the whiskey would remain in their original virgin oak barrels until we made it to California.
We made a notable pitstop, rendezvousing with Chris Jacobs and Cristy Lee for an unforgettable day on the track. Professional racing in this country was actually born of Prohibition-era bootlegging. And the team at Radford Racing helped us honor that historic past, fueling up a 700-horsepower Dodge Hellcat with our very own aged rye whiskey.
With our RoadStock Hellcat in the lead, the RoadStock Rolling Rick House headed north to Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, CA. where the balance of the whiskey was transferred into Firestone’s Imperial Stout, Imperial Blonde Ale and Experimental Ale barrels to finish on the long journey back to Vermont.
When we returned to the farm we knew we had something truly exceptional on our hands. So we blended and bottled WhistlePig Roadstock Rye Whiskey.

WhistlePig Whiskey will make history with the first whiskey finished on the road, traveling 6,000 miles aboard our rolling barrel warehouse. Roadstock Rye Whiskey is finished in craft wine and beer barrels from Sonoma and Los Angeles, CA, at the end of a cross-country road trip.
Nose: Ripened red berry fruit, with hints of maple syrup and marmalade.
Palate: Brown sugar and mocha heightened in the presence of stewed fruit and barrel spice.
Finish: Roasted malt, tanned leather and fresh cracked pepper.
